Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski gained critical acclaim with their first professional film, Madame Tutli-Putli, which received two awards at the Cannes Film Festival and a 2007 Academy Award nomination. In 2010, they released both Higglety Pigglety Pop!, a Maurice Sendak adaptation featuring the voices of Meryl Streep, Forest Whitaker, and Spike Jonze, and L’Année de L’Os, a lyrical, animated short with music by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Phoebe Greenberg

An artist and a businesswoman, Phoebe Greenberg has devoted her life to art and culture. In 2007, she launched DHC/ART, her foundation for contemporary art whose mission is to showcase the work of the best contemporary artists in the world, including Marc Quinn, Sophie Calle, Nancy Davenport, Christian Marclay, Ryoji Ikeda and Thomas Demand, to name but a few.

In 2008, with the construction of the Phi Centre underway, Phoebe made her first foray into filmmaking. She conceived and produced the short film Next Floor by Denis Villeneuve, (Best Short Film at the Cannes International Critics’ Week). In 2011, she was Associate Producer of Incendies, which took Villenuve to the Oscars that year. She also produced Hope by Pedro Pires, Kivalina, by Ben Addelman, Cochemare by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, and Visitors by Godfrey Reggio, slated for release in 2013.

Finally, in June 2012, after more than four years of construction, Phoebe Greenberg opened the doors to a unique arts centre in Montreal: the Phi Centre. A highly intelligent centre that proves the scope of Phoebe Greenberg’s vision. A centre whose mission is to create a gathering place for art.

Penny Mancuso

Penny Mancuso is equally at ease in the world of art as she is in the world of business. That’s what makes her such an indispensable collaborator with Phoebe Greenberg.

Penny is President of the Phi Group and all its entities, including the Phi Centre and Phi Films, which led her to produce films such as Next Floor and Incendies by Denis Villeneuve, as well as Cochemare by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, and Visitors by Godfrey Reggio, both slated for release in 2013.

Penny is also a big music fan. She has worked with partners from around the world to help develop and market new talent like Yoav, Black Lips and Band of Skulls.

With the opening of the famous Phi Centre in June 2012, Penny Mancuso is now taking on a challenge on par with her talent: to create a gathering place for art.

Sylvie Moreau

Sylvie Moreau’s reputation as an actress and a writer precedes her. After theatre studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal and at the École de mime corporel de Montréal, her career immediately took off and hasn’t shown any signs of stopping.

On the stage, she has performed Shakespeare, Homer and Feydeau as well as Gauvreau, Shepard, Meunier and Saïa. Her television credits include LOL : ), 30 vies, Annie et ses hommes, Catherine and Dans une galaxie près de chez vous. She has also appeared in a number of films including Post Mortem, Comment ma mère accoucha de moi durant sa ménopause, Les aimants and Familia.

Sylvie Moreau is, above all, a multi-talented artist. She is one of the best improv artists in the history of the Ligue National d’Improvisation. She is part of the singing duo Country Girls. She has also hosted several galas including La Soirée des Masques and the Jutra Awards.

She won the Genie for Best Actress for Post Mortem, and the Gémeaux Award for Best Actress for her performance of Catherine in the series of the same name. She also won the Gémeaux Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama for Injustice (États-Humains).

For 20 years, Sylvie Moreau has been part of the theatre collective Momentum for which Clyde Henry Productions creates the posters.

Patrick Watson

Patrick Watson is an immensely talented singer-songwriter. A musician from an early age, his breakthrough moment came in 2006 with Close to Paradise. The album soon went gold in Canada and won numerous awards, including the prestigious Polaris Prize in 2007. He followed with Wooden Arms in 2009 and then in 2012 with Adventures in Your Own Back Yard.

Patrick has also distinguished himself as a film composer. As early as 2000, he did the score for Emmit Walsh’s short film Segui il tuo corso e lascia dir le genti. And a new score has followed every year since, be it for Mères et filles by Julie Lopes-Curval (with Catherine Deneuve), The Flood by Guy Nattiv, C’est pas moi, je le jure by Philippe Falardeau or Lock by Louise Archambault, a film on Édouard Lock and La La La Human Steps. His theme song for La Belle Bête by Karim Hussein earned him a Genie nomination.

But beyond his writing and music, Patrick Watson is an artist with a strong sense of humanity who scores films much like a painter applying brushstrokes to a canvas.
